Florence, OR / Saturday, July 11 - Saturday, July 18, 2009 -- We arrived in Florence Oregon around 1 PM after doing an overnight at the rest stop outside of Brookings, just north of the California-Oregon border.
We decided to leave Eureka yesterday late-afternoon to get a head start on the 300+ mile trip up the coast. It was a good idea because of the very slow route due to lots of hills and sharp curves. This route was extremely beautiful, with redwood forests in northern California between Eureka and Crescent City and then the dramatic Oregon coast mixed with lush evergreen forests there. We saw a black bear cross the road at one point. As beautiful as it was, we didn't stop to get any photos, one of the problems when driving the big motorhome
