Cortez, Colorado

Cortez is just 20 miles from Mesa Verde National Park and 119 miles from Canyon de Chelly National Monument. We arrived here at about 3:30AM on Saturday May 22 after learning of high winds predicted for the entire state of New Mexico. So we left Santa Fe around 8:30 on Friday night. On both Saturday and Sunday the winds were a sustained 30-40MPH with 50-60MPH gusts. Because of winds, we had to postpone our visit to the parks. We plan to visit Mesa Verde on Saturday May 29, but we likely won't make it to Canyon de Chelly on this trip.

Test 2. Just trying to see how they line up on the page. I need more text than just one or two words, so I'm going to drag on and on. Actually I could mention that it's Friday and Joe and I are going to finally make it to Mesa Verde National Park tomorrow and maybe even Sunday.

It's been frustrating being here all week knowing that the park is 20 miles away and being stuck at home working. But the week is finally over and the weekend is about to begin. We leave for Flagstaff on Monday for a short stay there followed by 2 nights at the south rim of the Grand Canyon. Then a week from Sunday we head to Las Vegas.
